This group of young performers from the Hwange National Park area in Zimbabwe was set up as a direct result of a lion project directed by Professor David Macdonald of WildCRU, which the MCFEA supported from 1999 to 2003. In order to encourage wildlife conservation in remote local communities, the Ingonyama Dance and Drama Group have performed their conservation-themed shows in front of school children, village audiences and tourist lodges, and have recently also travelled to perform in Namibia. Altogether, they have reached an estimated audience of 15,000 people. The MCFEA made three annual grants of £5,000 to the Ingonyama Dance and Drama group from 2005 to 2007.
